Here's a medley of tunes Jane performed in Concert recently....you should'a been there!!!
Jane, born in New England, is a musician's singer; that special breed of singer that can inspire a band to fly. When performing she connects with every audience member. A member of the International Women in Jazz and The International Jazz Vocal Coalition, she has performed, recorded and shared the stage with such greats as Mark Egan, Don Grolnick, Victor Lewis, Sheila Jordan, George Mraz, Sir Roland Hanna and Carla Bley.
She has been a recipient of a National Endowment For The Arts grant for Jazz Studies and performed and recorded with the Grammy nominated New York Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
A former resident of Atlanta, Ms. Blackstone is actively involved with vocal jazz education in New York City, and has produced vocal jazz workshops locally as well in South America, Europe and Japan. Her CD, "Natural Habitat/NYC" won some very fine reviews and earned 3.5 stars from the trusted All Music Guide. Says Christopher Loudon of JAZZ TIMES: "Blackstone is blessed with superb control and a boisterous musicality".

Two great jazz vocalists are teaming up for the first time to present a unique pair of vocal workshops designed for jazz vocalists.
Topics include: Perfecting individual style, song form, arranging, scales, harmony, improvisation and improving scat singing. These workshops are held in a room condusive to good sound and creativity. ...we will be using a Steinway Grand, and a PA system is also provided.

SCHEDULE
Workshop with Audrey Shakir: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Workshop with Jane Blackstone 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Following the workshops there will be a concert featuring Audrey and Jane with a great Atlanta rhythmn section: Louis Heriveaux on piano, Clay Hulet on drums, and R. Dickson on bass. For those students who are attending the workshops, admission to the concert is free.
Workshop admission: $30.00 per workshop, $50.00 for both workshops.
Concert admission is $10.00.
Complimentary wine and cheese will be served.
